VINNVÄXT is a programme that takes the form of a competition for regions. The aim is to promote sustainable growth by developing internationally competitive research and innovation environments in specific growth fields.
The winning regions will receive funding of up to SEK 10 million per year for a period of 10 years. The objective is that the winners will become internationally competitive in their respective fields within this period.
A prerequisite for the programme is the active participation of players from the private, public and research sectors and from the political sphere.
VINNVÄXT also comprises a number of support activities such as seminars, training/education, the exchange of experience and the extension of knowledge/research.
The programme began in 2001. Altogether twelve winners have been selected.
